“I ONLY SUPPORT MAN & WOMAN RELATIONSHIP BUT THE 14-YEAR SENTENCE IS UNNECESSARY” – NIKKI LAOYE @NikkiLaoye

Beautiful songstress Nikki Laoye’s statement was misconstrued and therefore given another interpretation when she granted Newspaper media Thisday an interview on the 22nd of March 2014. She was asked to air her opinion on the antigay law to which she said that although she does not support the lifestyle, she feels the 14 year imprisonment sentence was unnecessary. This was clear on the Thisday article however, It was misinterpreted by some  online media houses and therefore caused a frenzy on social media as Nikki Laoye was made to take some heat.

Nikki Laoye was asked her opinion on the recent antigay law to which she replied:

Personally, I am all for man and woman relationships only. I believe it’s the ideal plan by God when he created humankind. I just think the law and the 14 years imprisonment are unnecessary. Nigerians, even before the law, don’t appreciate or condone the gay mode. So, to me, it doesn’t change anything. We have other pending law matters for more important issues we are facing as a nation, still waiting to be addressed. Protection of the Nigerian citizens, the senseless killing of young unarmed students and our electricity issues. All these and more. These should be looked into fully instead.

Bouqui: Before

Bouqui “Queen B” is revamping her style to a more feminine outlook after years of wearing her short pixie haircut and sometimes going for a mohawk.

MIKE ABDUL | PRAY FOR ME @MikeAbdulng

From one of the numbers in the “Good to Go” album comes this beautiful track titled “Pray for Me.”

Mike Abdul said:

I and my friend, Tunde Makinwa wrote this song to address human nature.
It is human nature to wait for people’s downfall so as to make an example of them.
It is human nature to dislike those who used to make us happy.
It is human nature to think you’re better than the person in the limelight and think you would have done better.

GOSPEL ARTISTES SELL THE MOST” – ADA REVEALS IN RECENT INTERVIEW @adaehi

One may be forced to say it’s still early in the year to decide but Gospel singer Ada is having quite an eventful year. Haven released her double CD album “So Fly” and “Lifted” in November 2013, to releasing the album into the mainstream market, Ada has been doing numbers on the scale of demand and supply. She released some of the singles from the album for free download as well as giving some exclusives to SelahAfrik which recieved raved review, just like the album. This just goes to prove her point in her recent chat with Mary Ekah of ThisdayLive. Ada categorically said, Christian artistes make the bigger bulks compare to their mainstream counterparts.

Mary Ekah, in her bid to understand the artiste;s journey so far in the music ministry as well as how her album is fairing in the market asked Ada:

How has music been for you, especially as regard gospel music?

Ada’s response is contained below:

It is a privilege to be known for Jesus. You could be known for so many things but when you are known for Jesus, I think it is highest honour in Life. And then gospel music is a ministry. You are employed by divinity. Words are not enough to express the satisfaction you get from witnessing lives changed from the impact of music.  The content you provide is not just for now but   goes into eternity.  So it is over and above everything that I could sum into words; the impact on people’s lives – I have countless testimonies of people who would have committed suicide, people who were drug addicts and so on. So you could imagine so many people would have been dead if I had not sang.

People, who would have been dead today if not for my songs, have listened to my music and changed for the better, not just in Nigeria but also in other countries of the world. And then I see a lot of young people being inspired by my music.  I see a lot of singing today and I can hear a lot of myself in their music. It is very fulfilling and then in terms of rewards, like the physical reward, I think gospel music is one of the financial rewarding institutions because the average family in Nigeria is very religious and the average mother wills rather the children listen to healthy content as against sensual and seductive content. So in the real fact, the best selling artistes are the gospel artistes against the other ones who only have a lot of media euphoria.

CHRISTIAN RAPPER BIZZLE TALKS RECEIVING DEATH THREAT AFTER ANTIGAY RESPONSE TRACK WITH MUYIWA OLANREWAJU ON TURNING Point @mynameisbizzle

If you had a chance of a one-on-one with Christian Rapper Bizzle, what will be that hitching question  at the tip of your lips right now? Yes! You guessed right. You would want him to talk about his response to Pro-Gay anthem “Same Love” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.

For Turning Point’s Muyiwa Olanrewaju, It was not different. He got to sit with Bizzle on the set of Christian Show Turning Point and quizzed him about the song and the death threat that followed afterwards.

Just like in the song, Bizzle didn’t hold back on his views but he wasn’t going to dwell on that, Bizzle performed “Dear Hip Hop” before bidding the set farewell.
