New Music: Chookar Ekuma - STAND UP (A SONG FOR NIGERIA)

Ekuma Nnenna Chukwuka professionally known as Chookar Ekuma is a Nigerian recording singer,songwriter,and performer. Born 14th march 1990,Chookar Ekuma hails from Afikpo North Local Government area of Ebonyi State.Chookar started out in the children's choir and was also very involved with her Primary and Secondary School's music group back in Port Harcourt,Rivers State where she was born.

Chookar's major musical influences are;Esperanza Spalding, Bobby Mcferin,Onyeka Onwenu,M.J,Don Moen,J'moss,Sinach and a host of others.With musical influences from almost every genre,Chookar chooses to call her brand of music 'alternative soul'.

Chookar Ekuma plays the percussions and has worked as a background vocalist for artistes like;Eben,Joe Praise,Obi Shine,Sophie Ihegie,Kasid,Marx Okereke,Chris Shalom,Efe Nathan,Ibitayo,Yinquq Afrique,Jtreash,Protek Illesheva,Ada,Ralph Daniels,Casey Ed (Winner Glo Naija sings season2)and a host of others. Chookar is currently a member of the Praise Nation Choir of the Believers Loveworld Nation.

Chookar strongly believes that nation building is a collective responsibility.Inspired by the 'Reachout Nigeria Campaign' of her church; Christ embassy,and the yearning to contribute her quota to nation building Chookar launches out as a solo artiste with a special,beautiful and simple song for Nigeria titled 'STANDUP' to celebrate her independence.

'STANDUP',with it's contemporary highlife feel,is urging every Nigerian in Nigeria and in diaspora to disregard the mistakes of the past and present,unite as one and build the nation together.
