The Gospel Music Industry has lost another “pillar!”
Al “The Bishop” Hobbs was a “Force.”
As Chairman of the Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA), GMWA’s ~ Gospel Announcer’s Guild and owner of Aleho International Music, “The Bishop” was an advocate for all who asked for his support. His common-touch approach extended to label executives, artists, and everyone in between. At any moment you might see Al having an in-depth conversation with, Central City Production’s, Don Jackson and the next sharing a laugh with a up-and-coming young Gospel talent.
He HAD a gift… He was an all-around great human being who enjoyed life, and when in his presence everyone would be affected by his joy and exuberance. Whether on stage or behind the curtain, it seemed to be his Ministry to open the curtain for many to walk through to the spotlight and to center-stage.
He WAS a gift… He proudly championed those striving to make a difference in the Gospel music industry. And, his father-like wisdom made us all feel like “As long as “Big Al” had our backs, we were all in good hands.”
He is “immortal” to me. Yes, an irreplaceable giant has left our midst
