The bill states that the US Armed Forces must "accommodate individual expressions of beliefs" of each service member.
According to a CBN News report, freedom of religious expression in the military has been preserved within the latest defense bill, signed into law by the president this past Thursday.
Although the law restricted any religious belief that would hinder "military readiness, unit cohesion and good order and discipline," it reportedly states that the US Armed Forces must "accommodate individual expressions of beliefs" of each service member.
The Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty's Chaplain Ron Crews said that he believes the law will protect the freedom of troops that believe in traditional marriage, and would allow them to state their belief without fear of reprisal.
